stuck pinion

I have a 8.25 need to change pinion, problem is it is stuck I have hammered with sledge and is not moving, is the pinion pressed in any advice for removal would be much appreciated

You'll need to take the back cover off, pull the axle's, undo the carrier bearings, take out the carrier, loosen the pinion nut on the yoke, then it should come out.

I have everything out pinion won't budge crush sleeve or bearing must be holding it in place guess I need a bigger hammer

Used a bigger hammer did the job front bearing was frozen

Did the front bearing race spin in it's fit? If so, I'm betting the housing is junk.
