I only know this because I have one on my bench. Whoever answered this questioned needs to be taken out the back and beaten severely.

"It may appear different because of the upward angle showing more of the casting"

Really ?????

They are different boxes.....different coloured output shafts to begin with. The input heads are different.

Getting worse where ever you go and who ever you deal with. Society down the drain. How many people would have bought his explanation.

I can imagine the guy who asked it was just shaking his head.

What else could you do? And then thank him for his help. lol Sorry the Canadian coming out in me.

The thing is.....some might see this as a petty gripe.

But it's more serious than that. If you are looking for the right answer on a big-ticket item (that box is not cheap) - you want the correct answer....not get fobbed off with some lame-*** story that the floor-sweeper guy invented.

Car guys used to look up to the Speed Shop retailers......not so much now. Counter Jockeys at best in most places.
It really is hard to find quality help these days.

It took me two years or more to find that steering box. And that search involved at least six great friends I have made here over the years.
Size and orientation were the key points.

I'm glad the one I got was the right one. Maybe I should have bought a lottery ticket that day.

The knowledge that would be required to accurately respond to all customer inquiries that a retailer like Summit recieves is unimaginable.

Have the same problem in part’s business (HD Trucks)I’m in. Been doing it since 86. Just last week guy came in for a wiper motor on an 82. Was receiving parts into our inventory overheard conversation end of counter…. Is that off an RV, need last six digits of vin. Not an RV, 82 Conventional. We don’t stock it. Walked down, checked it out, smiled, said it’s a Sprague air operated, part number GS2281. Everyone & customer just looked at me. Went back to my station, customer came down, can you get me one, 4 minutes later, done. Not a lost sale, customer happy. I still enjoy helping our customers get what they need and I understand their needs. I’m there everyday, don’t miss work & I make things happen in every way possible. Yesterday…. my Sunday guy, sent me a text…. I’m about to just quit, this is F$$king pointless. My reply, give me 20 minutes, to get there at least, would appreciate that. Called me right back & apologized. The problem is most, not all just don’t care, take easy way out, social media has fried their brains. Sorry got off topic there towards the end.
Trying to fill the hours of operation is a major struggle. Then… we just throw them in the position, with the hope they show up to cover the shift. Hoping they care & will do their best to take care of a customer. That’s the major factor, of course then you have texts like I received yesterday. This morning is going to be interesting. It’s a fine morning & I’m ready. Everyone…. enjoy your day

I’m not sure but I think anyone can answer those questions. You might have to be logged into your account.

I believe that is correct.

The only restriction is that to place feedback on an item, you need to have actually purchased from Summit on your account.

add all this to the list of reasons our hobby will be dead in 15 years........ maybe 10

The issue is, ANYONE can log in and answer a tech question there. Look for a sigature by Summit tech team or the part manufacturer....otherwise it's usually just some random dipchit.
I can say, that when I've come across a wrong picture or description I've let them know and they've gotten it corrected, they've been pretty good about that.
