I helped park the cars on the showfield. When he pulled in with the Charger, on a rollback, I sent him down away from the other cars, since it was inoperable. He told me he had just pulled it out of an open carport 2 hours earlier. Before he had it unloaded, 20 people were gathered around to see what it was. It was a 318 car, with an unknown condition 440, and plenty of previous bad work done. He took $8,000 for it, and it was sold before the event was over! Makes me feel better about what i paid for my running/driving '68 vert a few years ago......
nice shots 68sportsatellite thanks for sharing, that red 68 SS, is pretty sweat, my Mom got one new in 1968 383ci 4bbl 4speed o/d dark green w-white vinyl top & bucket seat/console interior out of SF, it was her 1st new car, it was my car in 1978 10 years latter...
thanks for sharing! Looks like the King is doing OK after Linda's passing. Love the old iron, the new not so much. There was a Petty Superbird tribute back in the '80s.....Glen Peters IIRC. Haven't heard of him or the car for a while now. Are they still around?
That '68 Sport Satellite is gourgoues!!
Don't know about the tribute car, but the real Petty Superbird is at the Museum and will be sent to the Ridgley Pharmacy Car Show later this October. It will be the first time out to a show in 12 years. As far as the Modern Muscle goes, Petty Garage is turning out some spectacular Challengers, most are Dealer ordered and sent straight from Dodge/SRT to their shop. If you ever got your hands on a new one, and drove it like your old car, you might have a different opinion of them. Here is a pic of mine, runs circles around my '67 and 26MPG on the road.....
