Sweet hemi#1!
I lived in Germany for 5 years growing up and we had every variation of VW you could think of.
Buying a VW was easy....if it doesn't leak....BUY IT!

Nice. Hood is open? Has Beetle exhaust. I owned a 67 Kombi, and a 73 Automatic Dog. 73 had a Sportsmobile interior. They were both responsible for a lot of romping back then. We see a lot of them in Santa Cruz. They mostly stay there as they may not make the climb over 17 to San Jose I speculate.

That is a nice resto on the Westie, very cool. They are pretty good out on the flat but I occasionally see one climbing up Snoqualmie Pass on I-90, in the right lane, in a line of semis, doing about 25mph. I can pass them pulling my travel trailer LOL.

Funny you should post this...
Tuesday afternoon the 2nd of June (2015) a "Mint" Chevy Van passed me on the Highway here in So Cal.
It was a 68, Black Plate van, the 1968 Cal Custom paint job.
It was spectacular!

thanks guys I had the Westie at the show today. 92 deg. and very little shade. it took best bay window in the show. first time out. last night we had a cruise around the local lake and on it's maiden voyage it went 50 mi around the lake with no problems!!! I must be doing something right.
