Suspension Kit

Hacksaw I am not aware of the plate that you are describing. Call PST and ask them they are very knowledgeable.

I will take some pics and share them next week.

Does anyone know if heating the A-arms compromises their strength?

I used heat, acetylene torch to heat up the A-arms to remove the ball joints. It was successful, but I did not know if I weakened them in the process. Then I could not get the metal bushings out. The rubber came out with some great effort and hard work. I used heat again to aid me in this process. The first two cam out no problem. The third bushing came out no problem; but the last one I ruined when the cylinder I was using to push the busing out when in crooked and ripped the ear of the a-arm. I called PST and ordered some new ones. I am kind of glad because now I know their structural integrity is intact. I promised you some pictures and I have some here.

Anyone replace their old suspension bushings, ball joints and tie rod ends? What brand kit did you use? Are the original rubber bushings better than the new style neoprene bushings? It is time for an upgrade, I just need a little direction. Thank you!
I put the P.S.T. Super Kit with the poly bushings under the front end of my ‘65 Coronet. Switched the stock manual steering gear out with a Flaming River quick ratio box at the same time. Much better steering and handling.

When I took the suspension apart, I wire wheeled this area to clean it up. I painted it black but did not like it, so here is some orange body color to keep it from rusting.

The front end is done. I am just waiting for the shocks to come.

I bit the bullet and bought the caltracs system with the monoleaf springs. I also picked up some QA-1 shocks for the fronts and rears.

These are pics of the Caltracs system on the Road Runner. With the QA-1 shocks. I thought they looked sexy so I wanted to share them. Enjoy!

The Caltracs took about 2.5 - 3 hours per side. Old nuts and bolts do not want to come apart easy.

Just got my Hoosier DOT's on. I will take a picture tomorrow and share.

My old slicks had cracks in the sidewalls and the wear holes were close to invisible. They were definitely unsafe. I bought these DOT's to do double duty on the track and the street.
