Getting ready to “restore “my 69 Coronet tail lights. Not looking for a concourse restoration, just something that looks nice for cruising around and an occasional drive-in car show. I have thoroughly washed with soapy, water and nylon brush the entire assembly. Car was very very sloppily painted gold at some point and tons of overspray. Obviously I know about the chrome trim rings. Mine are in decent shape and we’ll see how good they polish up. My question is, the area (1) surrounding the lenses, should they be painted and argent gray or something reflective? Almost looks like they just have overspray on them and were originally part of the lenses? Also, the area (2) behind the chrome rings, heading toward the trunk, looks like they will be able to be seen a little bit poking around the tail trim piece. Do those need to be body color or gray as well?

I don't know about those questions but this stuff works good for making the lenses shiny and polished.
