Ran into a fellow with a 68/9 Hemi RR at the local show and the year before he gave me a tip about a cheaper place to get shipping tfrom the usa and just wanted to thank him- Thanked him and asked him how his car was doing this year? He said nothing..."sorry to bother you" I said-... and he furrowed his brow and went "hmmmffffff" ...as i walked away...

I cant believe how rude some people are...
What the hell is the freakin point of going to a local show if you dont want people to talk to you..im nice to everyone- some mopar owners-...

bad moods i guess some days, most older people i know love talking about their cars and want to have a big conversation, just because one guy was rude doesnt mean all old timers are, theyre usually the most knowledgeable people to talk to about these cars, i wish i was older just so id know as much as they do

Don't be in a big hurry to get older, it will happen before you know it!
You don't need to be older to be knowledgeable. When your at the swap meet and see those boxes of old car mags for cheap, spend a couple bucks. There is a wealth of info in the 70 and 80 era mags. Your correct about the older crowd knowing these cars, usually by learning from mistakes, and most are glad to help with any questions you may have.

I second the don't push it to be older. I was younger in age and one day I thought about it and **** I was turning 60. It happens quick or seems to anyway. I hate grumpy old F*c*s. ENJOY LIFE!!

PLEASE Let me third to say DON'T hurry yourself to be older, you may get your wish! Everyone does have bad days but being rude to someone shouldn't be. Why go to the show if your going with a attitude, stay home and be grumpy. And you young guys, read what badstroker said again.. ENJOY LIFE, you get up each morning not knowing what a day may end like, Enjoy it to the fullest.

maybe the grumpy old guy was just having a bad day from everybody asking him if his car was for sale.or maybe he just wasn't sure about your question about his car.you know how some of us old guys have a hard time with comprehension and hearing, at least that's what excuse i try and convince my wife with.

I wonder what is considered old???Sometimes I feel like i,m 70 + years old...My back aches and my shoulder is killing me..Then when I get behind my Plymouth I feel like i,m 17 again!!!

Amen bro...These old Mopars are great age therapy...

well i want the knowledge of an older guy, i love being young and having so many opportunities!

At car shows, I'll talk to any and everyone, 17 or 75. Actually 17 is a bonus. If you look and sound like you are interested in older cars, I'll talk to you until your ears fall off! I LOVE getting younger guys hooked on the hobby. I used to have the opinion that I wouldn't own a car older than I am. That sure cuts out a whole lot of interesting options.

every person i talk to loves to see me out of thousands of kids, like muscle over ricers or luxury or sport cars, and of course muscle beats out all those in drags any day so i dont know what the big deal is about the new cars, haha, older guys talk to me alot when they see my interest and especially hear that i actually own a mopar muscle car!

I actually knew MORE about these cars in my teens and early twenties than I do now (43). I am starting to "get my groove back", though!

I am 45 so I know what you mean. Growing up when we did was a great time for sure. All the muscle cars were at the end of life and you could pick them up for a song. Junkyards were full of them for parts. What I wouldn't give to go back and have the foresight to keep just the ones I had.

70 Charger 440/ 4spd (bought for $500)
68 Dart 340/4 spd (bought for $850)
71 Charger 440/ auto (bought for $300)
70 'Cuda 440/ 4spd (traded for a motorcycle worth about $900)

Just to name a few. Just got back into a 70 RR about 3 yrs ago. But it's all been coming back slowly. Surprising how much you forget. But I am happy to say a lot of it has come back in the last 3 yrs.

It's a pretty common experience, rudeness. I tend to stay away from car shows because of it.
There's ******** in every walk of life, stands to reason that there would be some in the car hobby. I think it has less to do with your age and is more about that particular individual's circumstances at the moment, since you said he was helpful once before. Still, I brook no excuses for rudeness.

It takes all kinds...
