I have a new TCI 727 transmission with the cable kickdown. Now the accelerator petal is as hard the clutch on a Hemi car. It seems to be adjusted right because the downshifts are like they need to be. I am ordering my third accelerator cable as I have broken two, they just pop the little ball off at the firewall. I also find that I don't need a return spring on the carburetor because the kickdown cable will actually return the carburetor back to idle. Is there something I'm doing wrong or is this just the nature of the beast?

That's how I feel about the buschillon cable kit I used on my coronet. Throttle is very stiff, had to crimp a new end on it once already. Without the kickdown cable on the throttle is very light, like it should be. Been thinking about tossing the entire setup out and trying out cables from lokar.

LOkar is a really decent setup. I put them on a 69 GTX and a 71 Satellite. No complaints yet.

You need to determine if the cable or the transmission is the source of the stiffness. With the Lokar cable disconnected from the trans lever, the lever should get progressively harder to move as it's moved rearward but not really hard to push. If it is really hard to push, the stiffness is in the trans, contact TCI.

The Bouchillon cable kit has a spring on the trans kick down lever that pulls the lever forward. It seems the spring has too much tension? Might try a lighter tension spring.

It's definitely possible, I haven't played around with it in a while. And honestly I'm not super happy with their setup anyway. Both the throttle and trans are held with the same bolt and that big bracket, loosen the bolt to adjust one and the other goes out. Kinda dumb in my opinion. When the cable end pulled off I called and was Pretty much told oh well, buy another throttle cable ! I haven't bought anything from them since and most likely never will !
Either way, I will definitely mess around with that return spring and see how it feels.

Same thing happed to my friend. He had it adjusted wrong, and broke the carb end off.
I think he is switching to the Lokar setup.

Here they are all setup on the 440.

From looking at your picture, it seems like you may need the Holley throttle adapter for Chrysler. The longer lever should make the throttle cable easier to pull. I am not at all familiar with the aftermarket cable operated kickdowns. The Bouchillon seems to be favored over the Lokar, from what I've heard. I've put manual valve bodies in all my transmissions. I don't miss automatic function one bit. https://www.holley.com/products/fuel_systems/carburetor_components/brackets_and_linkage/parts/20-7
