Got into a race with a bike, kid looked like maybe on his way to work noticed he was checking out the car, and when the opportunity to have some fun came about at a red light I just couldn't resist lol.

Unfortunately the cop in the SUV about a two cars back didn't think so lmao.

Went like this, bike gets around slower traffic in the right lane by going left, I a few hundred feet behind do the same, approaching a red light right lane is open, I pull in we are stopped, I wait for the opposite traffic to make their left turns in front of us carefully watching to see if anyone u turns and will be there when our light goes green, no one. red about to go green when from the right a mini van turns right and is in my lane, wait wait wait red light delays get more time minivan about 50 car lengths in front now seems safe to launch -

Get the green, hammer it tires light up rear heads sideways to the right biker looks over in astonishment wonder wtf? RR hooks and flies out just as the biker realizes what is happening and hammers his throttle I take off like a rabbit get within 5 car lengths of the minivan in about 3 seconds and let off, biker hits 4th and blows past me tucked tight to the tank lol

Big smile feeling good even though it was just for fun, look up and **** red / blue / siren ah man sit he was two back behind the bike, lol pulled in behind me right as he saw me drop out of warp, thinking well **** I guess it was my time just one of those stupid times.

Side street comes up about a block away, whole time my right turn signal on letting him know I 'm pulling over. Get turned and stopped, turn car off to make sure he knew I would run.

Got my papers out, as he walked up he started with I know I don' need to give you the lecture but you know why I pulled you over right? Oh yes officer me being a dumb *** this morning understand. Hand over my stuff, can hear them already reading back my info over the radio as he is walking back. Remembered to get my phone and snap a pick as he is finding out my record is clean and I am an upstanding citizen ;)

Walks back over to me in the car, says well you know that was dumb right? I say yes sir I know, he says well I 'm not going to give you a ticket today just a warning, but we do keep track and if you get another than it's an automatic ticket ok, uhh **** ok thanks man you are the best! He said you know with a nice muscle car like this people will inevitably try to get you to do burnouts and race and stuff, just do me a favor and go do that stuff out in the farm roads don't do it in the city here in traffic with cops behind you! I said laughingly you got it! it will never happen again!

Reach into the center console and pull out a 50th anniversary HEMI decal I had and handed it to him and said well not sure if you're a mopar fan but here have this for being so cool this morning. He took it and said oh hey thanks with a surprise on his face, then we parted ways as I slowly started her up and limped home as to seem like I was complying with his orders.

Here is the decal

cool story,
your lucky,
that could have cost some serious coinage,
in fines & future insurance pricing...

even get the car confiscated/impounded, jail even,
for getting caught in the act of racing/speed exhibition etc....

you got a cool cop... was that in Discovery Bay, Brentwood or Oakley area ?? kind of looks like that area
if it was Antioch, Pittsburg or Concord they'd have your a$$...LOL...

I'm sure you already knew that thou...

"only difference between a boy & a man is a better paycheck"
& usually a better/cooler car...

That's a very cool story - Backed up with a pic no less! I see you're in NorCal. I always wondered what a cop would do in a case like that. Doubt that's the norm. You got a really cool dude. I live in the O.C. and I just don't see them acting so cool down hear in SoCal. Glad you burned the bike and got off to boot!

Yep he was a cool one, and I am lucky for sure. Our cops have better things to do than chase down us locals, the neighboring city Antioch is full of criminals and occasionally they show up here trying to do crimes but our guys are john on the spot.

Bud, I'm in Brentwood, it has changed a lot in the last 20 years we moved out here in 2002 from Concord, before that I was in Lafeyette and my wife was in Walnut Creek.
just to rent! lol

Nice, you lucked out and drew a car guy. Be careful picking on those bikes, they'll hurt you more times than not. ;)

Thats great for you. Its nice to know many police officers are cool and like cars. Last week when I got in my 63 to leave the 7/11 I stopped at a cop pulled up next to me and got out of his unmarked police cruiser. He came up to my window and said "dont be alarmed as you did nothing wrong as I just want to ask you about your car " ! He has a 62 Ford Fairlane to restore and he said that my car looked real nice to him and he wanted some pointers from me about restoring cars. He was very cool and we talked almost a 1/2 hr. I was glad thats all he wanted also. Ron

Lucky for you Karma was on YOUR side then . . . glad that it all worked out for you ! ! ! Great story ! !

Very cool story! I had a similar one but I did get a ticket that was able to be cleared by going to traffic school. Beats having the car I was in towed on the spot!

You live close enough to come to my car meet on Aug 17th. I'll send you a PM.
