Just put a 4 barrel manifold and carb on my 64 Polara. All was going well until I hooked up the kickdown. I used the adapter that is for the Edelbrock carb, mine is a 600 cfm, 1406,engine is 318 poly. If I hook up the rod it pulls the throttle open about half an inch. I am almost to the end of the adjustment on the rod. Have 2 return springs, no help. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

I'm going to show you a couple of pics. Pay no attention to my kickdown because it's different from yours and ignore the linkage to the front carb.

I am useing the Edelbrock carb adapter and it's a 600 Eddy. See if you have your kickdown located at the same spot on the bracket and if you installed the bracket to the carb in the same manner.

It’s too short, you cud use a female-male threaded adapter (5/16”fine thread?) too extend it .

Thanks to both of you. Will try in the morning, and make sure I have it right. Can also try to lengthen it. Knew I would get the answer on this site.....

Make sure you pick up a 5/16 rod coupling too. That will save you a trip to the hardware store. You want the back portion of the channel resting on the carb pin. So that when you open the throttle it instantly pushes the rod back and down to the transmission. If you have too much gap the pump will have a delay in pump pressure adjustment.

Single piece rod, correct? If you have access to a welder you can weld in and dress with a 5/16" steel rod to keep it looking stock.

I was able to use the rod from my 2bbl carb on my 4 bbl poly setup but unthreading it a bit.

Got the problem resolved.
Seems my local speed shop is run by an AMC guy and knows Mopars also. For $7.00 Edelbrock makes an extension in either 1/4" or 5/16" to solve the problem. The number I got is 8003, which is 1/4-28. Thanks for all your info, hope this helps someone.
