That sounds a lot like our family beater. 1/2 ton Chevy with crap piled up to the seat, nose and bed are drooping from rust, you have to roll the window down and slam the door for it to latch, takes 2 hands and holding you tung just right to open the tailgate, wonders all over the road if your not attentive and has dents all over it but it hauls.
About 25 years ago, my dad’s 77 F-350 was stolen from right in front of his house one night. Never saw it again. 400 4 speed srw, dad really missed that truck.
Working in a garage in the seventies, a local farmer brought his five ton stake body in for inspection. I couldn't help laughing when I saw it. He had baling twine tied to each wiper arm, routed it through the wing vents and tide to dash knobs on each side of the steering column. Pull one then the other to work them back and forth. Then he had a piece of twine tied to the clutch pedal to bring it up during operation.
I asked the boss, can you really pass this? He replied "they work!" Only with a farmer's ingenuity!
I knew a local farmer that would drive through cow **** prior to getting an inspection sticker, so the inspector wouldn't check the worn out ball joints
Know this truck all to well. Many of years I went to work in it. Had to duct tape the driveshaft in it once because we didn't have the tools to fix it at the time. Luckily, it's not mine
