I am going to replace my torsion bar crossmember mounting bushings. i just thought i could put a floor jack under the crossmember. take one bolt out and lower the jack just down enough to pull the old bushing out and slip the new one in. same thing on the other side. anybody ever done it this way

I actually removed the torsion bars first... But I had to replace the entire cross member because the previous owner must have snagged it on something hard because it was severely warped!

You should be able to actually just unbolt it as the torsion bars are acting against each other acoss the length (spring loaded in the opposing direction) you wont need a jack to hold it up either as the torsion bars go through the trans cross member and cant fall down.

If you are unsure, just replace one bushing at a time

And for those that think this is sounding odd... this must be for a 73 or 74 Bbody lol
