Hi, i have small block torison bars on my 70 Charger. i bought some .960 for hemi/rb and was wanting to know how to install them ? i have never installed torsion bars before. Just need some insight on it. also is there any certain tools required. my motor is out so i think now is the best time to do it. Thanks again.

No special tools IF you don't want to save your original bars.

Back off the adjuster bolts in the middle (underside) of your LCA's. Remove the spring clip from the back of the torsion bar socket (in the trans crossmember). IF YOU AREN'T saving your original bars, then you can use some vice grips to clamp onto the bars, and drive rearwards with a BFH.

If, however, you're needing to replace your LCA bushings, then you can back off the nut to the end of the shaft, then drive the LCA and T-bar rearwards with a BFH

Hey thank.. for all the info. It helped me out greatly. I got em.. I used WD-40, a hammer, and a small pipe wrench. They came right out. No problems at all. Just jerked them a bit then i hit them a couple of times and they came right out.

Let me stress this one more time. IF the bars were marred by the wrench and hammer, then then SHOULD NOT be reused. That makes a fracture point and the bars will break.

yea i am not using them. i have RB hemi .960 bars. new ones from mancini racing. the small block bars will not be used again.
