What is correct for a late 69 build 4-speed car. It came with 4 long bolts with the spinner "turned down nose", 4 thick, 4 thin washers, and 4 plain nuts, in a can. Also what is correct for the single center 5/16 mount bolt. It is nov 30 hamtramk build if that matters,Thanks.

69 has thick washers on both sides with regular nuts and the rubber mount nut should be a half nut. I have seen some that had a larger OD nut on them but I don't know the name for that type of fastener or if it was correct..

Ok thanks, so plain nuts, I can round up 4 more thick washers from the bucket of bolts that came with it, wanted to be sure it did not need the lock style nuts with the oval end. Guy was parting a 70 charger at the same time so figure things may be mixed up. I know in 70 the bolts changed at some point.

9/69 Lynch Rd car. Never been off until a month ago. 6bbl 4 speed car.

Thank you, looks like I need 3 more of the thick locknuts. The thin ones in pic came off off a 1970 cuda.

The picture in the ICCA Judging manual shows a non locking nut that is actually red colored. Steel locknuts damage the threads on the bolt every time they are removed and the bolts have thread cutters that would make a lock nut inoperable. The insulator nut is also a flanged nut. Perhaps more research is needed before deciding which to use or maybe retain a set of each and decide later, OP.

Pics are hard to see, it looks like cosgigs are locking nuts, they have that angled end and dots, and the threads are cleaned a little, as are mine about an inch down but I may be wrong. I checked the AMK site and the only 3/8-16 red nut they sell is a locknut B-10525. Maybe that is what I need. I can't tell on the mount nut, it may well be a 3/8 flange. Thanks for the help.

The up through '69 bolts are bigger diameter than the '70-up. Brewer's sells sets for either

Whichever moderator edited this post, I said the subject REMINDED me I needed to sell a crossmember, NOT
that I was trying to hijack this thread to do so.
I know damn well how to use the proper forum to do a proper ad for it.
Kindly go find someone else to harass - oh, and work on your reading comprehension skills while you're at it.

I can crawl back under there and get better pics. It was late, and apparently my thumb was quicker than the auto focus! I can tell you tho, these are the original nuts and bolts!

Thank you that would be great, I mainly need to know if the nuts look like mine, and if the single nut is a flange nut, or a thin nut and washer. I would rather replate the originals than get new stuff, some new stuff is not so great in my opinion.

Ok, here’s what I found out. The nuts for the pass through bolts are nuts and washers, but it’s a one way but, where one side is taper rounded, and the side against the washer is flat. The pass through bolt also has a washer on it. The single mount but has a collared edge, not a captured washer. It is one piece. Both nuts are loose in the pictures to show their shape.

Dang it, here’s the nut for the pass through bolts taken off to show the rounded side! It’s hard to get a pic with it in place!

still a little blurry, must be my shaky hands? Time for a sip!

Perfect, that is what I have here. I am going to plate the nuts and bolts black, washers silver. Thanks again.

Found the center nut, the motor mount bolts are also all black, not silver like the reproduction kits, only the washers are silver. Heater hose brackets are also both coated, both 1970 model year.

Hmm, that must be the engine mounted heater hose bracket? My inner fender heater hose bracket is not coated, kind of wish it was. I was just contemplating how to clean it up today, but I don’t want to paint anything, the car is too original to muck it up. The engine bracket on mine is coated!

Yep.. always thought it was weird the fender one is bare when others are coated... unless different lines had different suppliers!

No they are both fender brackets, engine bracket is here. I know most are bare.

The AC cars for some reason used a rubber coated heater hose fender strap, otherwise, it was the silver cad finish that eventually faded away.
