I need a little help with my 1972 Charger. Above the transmission pan, there is a little hole filled by a black rubber plug that began to leak and drained out all the fluid above the pan. Does anyone have any idea what this is, how to fix it or where to find a replacement plug?

It looks like the rear license plate holder bumper to me. I didn’t know that the MopaR transmissions had a rubber plug on the case anywhere.

They don't but it is a creative fix for a common leak... The shaft thats in that hole is for the rear band anchor... The shaft should have an O ring to seal the leak... Common fix it drain the fluid level below the level of the hole, clean the hole throughly then fill the hole with RTV... Allow it to dry completely before refilling the trans fluid...

Yeah that is not a plug ,but was used as one . its a bump stop for something else. the thing on your trans is a pin for a servo inside and is sealed by an oring. you gotta pull the pin to fix it properly. The bump stop was a quick fix. You may be able to clean the hole and silicone the bump stop back in to get by. But thats what it is.......
