Going to take out original radiator on my 1970 B Body and install new OEM replacement. There are 2 transmission lines running to the lower tank area. When disconnecting will they be under any pressure or leak fluid. When reconnecting do you recommend a thread sealant.

Thanks for feedback.

The lines bring transmission oil to the heat exchanger in the bottom tank of the radiator. They are pressurized only when the transmission's front pump and engine are running. I believe the lube oil pressure is approximately 25-35 psi. The heat exchanger in the radiator is a liquid to liquid device that is servicable by un soldering the bottom tank of the radiator.
The connections typically use flared fittings on the lube lines and NPT to flare fitting adaptor fityings on the radiator.

There will be no pressure when disconnecting but a little will drip from rad n lines, and you dont need sealent as these are a flared line fitting.Just be careful when loosing nuts that you dont loosen the fittings on lower tank as they are only solderd in

As stated, use caution when removing lines. It is advisable to use a wrench and hold the fitting in the tank while loosening the female flare fitting. Ruffcut

NO sealer (you could use hylomar but don't
get a flare nut wrebch
back up eith a wrench on the tank fitting
put the handles a little ways apart and squeeze
don't let the tank one move

Thanks Everyone for quick reply. Fully understand not over torqueing the tools.
