I bought a new trunk emblem (metal and plastic parts), purchased the gaskets year ago or so, and now want to install the emblem. How do the gaskets go. There are four circular gaskets and when I try to fit them in it seems the whole emblem is raised above trunk lid. Can't seem to find any information on attaching this piece. Any help would be appreciated.
TIA
Ted

Sounds like you have the DMT gasket. You should only need the one that goes around the outer pot housing, and the one behind the center emblem if I remember correctly. I can make sure sometime tomorrow.

The whole thing sticks up because you have to tighten it down to compress the gaskets.
I like a wee bit of silicone to seal the emblem to the outer ring and keep the water out

Test fit looks good. I was thinking some silicone sealer to keep elments out. Thanks
Ted

Don’t crank on those nuts too hard, you can break the pot stud. If you have an unfortunate happening you can drill a a hole into left over stud and use a self taping screw with JB Weld or something and set it. Then you can put a self threading nut on.
I have done that.
