Here are a couple of pamphlets I picked up at today’s flea market. A Chrysler turbine car brochure. Also a couple of perpetual calendars, one of which, the gold one, I have had from the time my dad got it from Highland Park. Also a champion notebook.

I have one of those gold calendars, too. I found it at a jewellery flea market that my wife dragged me to. Likely the only automotive piece there, and it called to me. LOL
I also have the brochure and the 1/18 scale die cast.

Did Chrysler ever make a working prototype of that turbine car?

Lots of them.

the Chrysler Turbine became the most popular thanks to the company's showmanship. Representatives drove cars powered by the engine across the United States, showed them off in college campuses (which doubled as ads for Chrysler engineering jobs), and most important of all, loaned Chrysler Turbine Cars to 203 lucky families. Recipients got to test drive the vehicles and provide feedback after their time was up. You don't see marketing campaigns like that anymore.
The vehicle remains the quintessential 1960s automobile and graces several museum and personal collections.

Five prototypes and fifty running models.
Here is how most of them ended up.

I have the brochure, my dad brought one home from a car show when they were brand new.

My wife with her siblings in the Chrysler Turbine car at the 1965 Worlds Fair in New York.

I believe that there are nine of them left. Jay Leno has one. The Smithsonian museum has one. The Ford museum has one. The Chrysler museum had three, but one of the three is the one Jay Leno has. The picture is the one the Smithsonian museum has,as it was displayed on the National Mall in Washington DC a couple years ago .

Thanks. I learn something new everyday.

I also had one of the brochures and the scale model when I was younger. They are both long gone.

Stahls auto museum, (Stahls Motor and Music Experience) in Chesterfield, Michigan, also has a working example.

I bought my wife one of the actual Chrysler issued Turbine 1/25th scale promotional models from a local swap meet. She remembers the car sounding like a jet when it took off, during their ride at the Chrysler Pavilion.
