Hi all,

I got over to his yard today here in Vermont. I took the grand tour with him, he's a 71 year old character, and he has a massive amount of parts and cars. I videoed until my phone died. I will see about posting them here later this evening, I just got back and have not eaten. From what I saw here is my mental list:

2 1970 Chargers, 2 69 roadrunners, 2 69 Coronets, 1 69 coronet 4 door, 1 68 Charger, 1 73 roadrunner, 1 70 PlumCrazy Challenger, Challenger fenders NOS and original new,69 Roadrunner fenders and hoods, 2 rear quarters for a 70 and up Challenger, several shaker and snorkel carb base plates that meet up with the hood, one is a triple carb, many tail lights and tail light panels for MOPARS of many years and types, Some good bumpers for mopars, many consoles, dashes, and interior parts and emblems for all years and types, some bucket seats with tracks that were removed from the cars back in the 60's and 70's and are in dry storage. He has a 50 something Dodge Royal with a 325 poly, he has a 67 Belvedere, another 63 belvedere, a Dart and several early 70's Chargers and roadrunners. Many of these cars started right up by the way. As for parts, well I can say with 100% confidence that he has many thousands of loose cataloged parts. The parts are all marked with the type, car, year etc. the room with cylinder heads had perhaps 80 sets, I didn't count them, the carbs number in the 2-3 hundreds, intakes of ALL types perhaps 250 of them, too many sets of valve covers too count from the 50's up to the 70's for about every kind and type of motor ever made in chrome and aluminum. He has dozens and dozens of driveshafts, crankshafts, camshafts, blocks. Entire engines some of the ones I remember are 68 440HP, 66 383's several 340's and 360's a Ford 427 side oiler, etc. He has pistol grip shifters as well as every other kind known to man the ones he has are, 3 short shaft pistol grip Hurst's, 1 long curved shaft, 1 medium curved shaft and another short shaft. Dozens of other types and lengths. He has perhaps 3 dozen 4 speed trannies, several autos. 1 was an aluminum 4 speed mopar trans. Engine blocks and parts everywhere. If you want a vintage tunnel ram, or intake with velocity stacks etc, call him. The intakes are everywhere a whole room full of them. He has some very old Offenhauser intakes. Plus he has tons of small parts of all kinds. Air cleaners , scoops, callouts, inside and outside trim pieces.
Now, the prices for some of this stuff:

The cars that are rebuildable "parts Cars" as he calls them go for 2000 to 2500 depending on how tough it is to get out of where they are. the plum crazy Challenger is 13,000. the 70 R/T has bad frame no motor or tranny has console w buckets auto car, 6000.00 to 8000.00 but I have made a deal for it myself. Score. 63 belvedere- 2500.00 67 belvedere 2500.00 .

So. His phone number is (802) 454-7875. If you make a deal with him for anything you will either have to arrange to have it picked up and shipped or I can go get it and ship it. Entire cars will have to arranged with a carrier and a date when he can have it moved out to where it can be loaded up. All in all he has a lot of stuff. If you need something just call and ask if he has it. His hours of operation are 10am to 3:30pm eastern standard time. But, it's just him and two German Shepards so he's there all of the time. Last but not least he has an enclosed racing hauler with a Don Hardy Vega race car in it. It is awesome.

enjoy!

Ghostrider That's a great thing your doing for him, sounds like a cool ol'guy
& has a cool place, with some cool cars & parts

I commend your efforts & your help....
that's a stand up thing to do, for him & all of us too

Why thank you sir. I just don't see any reason why so many parts should just sit there gathering dust when so many of us could use them. He lives in a 1790's brick house all alone and was only too happy to talk cars and parts for awhile. I think he could use the dough too. The guy has a 1970 road runner sitting high and dry on top of a yellow school bus. You gotta love that,,,lol.

How and why did he acquire all of those cars and parts? There must have been some intent in starting a real business?

He says that he got started when he bought a new 65 El Camino and it he put a big block in it. He raced everyone around and got the label as a guy who likes cars and could do stuff to them. Guys started calling him and bringing their cars for work. He started ending up with them when they wanted to trade or sell. It kinda started to snowball on him. He started saving cars then from the crusher and all. Guys would call and say they saw such and such who was selling a Charger or whatever and he would go and snap them up. When he ran out of real estate he started dismantling them that were not totally savable and thus began the hoard of parts he has today. It is also a sort of retirement fund, he's hoping to sell the 1790's home and the land and all of the cars and parts in one sale. I bet it could all be had for the right guy with enough dough and a way to gather it all up. If I did, I would buy it all, move out the cars and parts that were savable, junk the rest for scrap value, clean it all up and sell the house and land. Start cataloging and selling off the parts and cars. He mentioned that DVAP Desert valley Auto Parts has been trying to buy his inventory for about 20 years now. Because his cars are for the most part complete cars. There's a lot of parting out value there for a large organization like DVAP. Plus it's not exclusively a MOPAR collection, he has tons of GM stuff as well. He has many GM muscle cars as well. There are about a dozen or so school buses out there, I went into three of them that had MOPAR stuff. The others have GM etc. Whole buses full of heads, blocks, wheels, trim, lights and grilles etc. He has hundreds of thousands of parts.

I know a few guys like this, and one of them lives not far from my house. I feel kind of sad for them because they have a ton of parts, but at the end of the day they are the same parts everyone else has. They all think they're going to retire on this stuff, and just know there's a buyer who will meet their prices. There may have been those buyers ten years ago, but not today. I know one guy who's had this grand plan to sell off a bunch of parts to finance a move to a retirement community in Ocala, FL. He's been telling me he's gonna do this for four years now, and I think he's sold maybe a handful of little parts in all that time. He keeps holding out for top dollar for common parts like rear ends, intakes, heads, etc., and doesn't see that other folks are selling these at half what he wants and taking all his buyers before they ever get to him.

Then there's old Jerry at J&J Auto Parts in Starke who many of us know. He's old, lonely, and sitting on a fleet of cars that once were great project cars but have been sitting out in the open for close to 20-30 years, and are rusting away to nothing. Plus he wants you to pull your own parts, and the cars are jammed in so tight you can't open the doors on most of them. And yet he still wants top dollar for everything too.

I recently met another guy who seems to have it figured out a bit better. He's had a whole barn full of parts and for him money talks. He wants to get out of the parts business, has lots of experience selling at swap meets so he knows what price points actually move inventory, and he's cut me a lot of deals that were good for both of us. Now he's about out of everything but money and ready to move on with his life. I like dealing with those guys a lot better than the ones who are always saying they want out but always thinking they've got something no one else has and they're going to get their price.

Your right Bruzilla, there's one in every state, at least. I think that Bruce has been exactly like that for many years but now he's 71 and has bad knees and can't fix cars like he wants, or get around as well. He realizes that he has to get rid of it all. And you know, I think that is reflected in that he is asking $2500.00 for an almost complete restorable 1970 Roadrunner. $13,000 for the Plum Crazy Challenger. I looked in that car and the floors are solid and not rusted. He has new front aprons for it, new fenders and quarters, not that it needs them. I was surprised at the price of the 69 roadrunner front hood. $2000.00 but it has the reverse facing low cowl down the center and is in perfect condition. The other runner /gtx hood with callout risers on both sides is Plum Crazy purple and is like brand new. $6000.00 I got a 70 Charger R/T for $6000.00. There is another one that's 6-8000.00. A 68 Charger parts car with great sheet metal that would be had for a good price. So, all in all I think he's letting go some.

I find that I am not, in any way, a great videographer, I will post what I have but it will make you sea sick. My phone died pretty fast. I need to go back and take photos.

What I think he really needs is for somebody to record him going through everything, saying what it is, the condition, how much he wants etc. get that all transcribed and he would have a bargaining chip to sell it all at once and or, a good list that folks could pick stuff off of that they are interested in. Like the Don Hardy race Vega, that sucker is blown and badass. Has it's own enclosed race trailer ( WAR EAGLE RACING) and all of the stuff to go out and put it to work.

Uuhhhhnn, I don't seem to be able to upload my video taken with my I-Phone?

VIDEO of his yard and some of the collection...

in this video I found on you tube you can see about 1/3 of his total collection. In the video there is the blue 70 Charger in one shot with a hood scoop on it. I bought it last Monday!

The blue charger at 1:03? Looks like a new project thread should be started soon! Nicely Done Randy!
Yes that one. I'm leaving it there till spring it might as well sit in the snow there as here. He had other offers that have not panned out and I will know by next Wednesday if my offer is excepted. He thinks it will be.
