I am wanting to put a 5 blade viscous fan on my 69 Dodge D300 Truck. I made the mistake of buying one for a late 80s dodge truck and the pitch of the blades is opposite of what it should be and it blows air through the radiator instead of pulling it through, I assume due to the 80s application being for reverse coolant flow.

I know that the viscous fan kits have long been discontinued, but was there an application that used them that I could look for in a junkyard? A part number would help. Thanks!

I think you need to check which way your fan turns first.

The coolant does not "reverse flow". The fan you purchased had a serpentine pulley system which all modern vehicles have. The water pump spins in the opposite direction and therefore the fan does, but the coolant still flows in the direction designed. Case in point, I have a waterpump for a big block dodge w an anti-cavitation plate. I run a serpentine pulley setup and the pump spins in opposite direction designed. But since vanes are straight, the coolant still flows through the block and radiator in the original direction.

As for your fan, a quick ebay search should find you a fan designed for your application. I always recommend 7 blade on any truck or van.
