I have the Chance to get a Free 77 Volare RR 318, Been sitting 25 years But I wanted to ask How Popular are these cars? I Really don't have the Room for it but it has Good parts on it Bucket seat console car.

I still say drag it to the scrap yard to make a few bucks is the duster that nice?

Now that I'm looking at the picture the bottom one kinda looks like a 78 Chevy nova if you take the gills off and the window stayed that big triangle.

It might be a good body for a race car I don't think I would feel Bharat about cutting that one up

It looks EXACTLY like the top one same color, Total Granpa Car and yes the Duster is Very very Solid, I don't have pictures yet.

Forget scrapping it unless you are desperate to score $50. Scrap prices are REALLY low right now.
I actually like those cars. Trouble is, here in CA they are still required to pass the state smog check to get registration. That means if it was built with a 318, it has to remain a 318. Single exhaust, 2 barrel carb, catalytic converters....If these cars were exempt, I'd have been buying them up years ago. Styling looks nice. The interiors were decent and comfortable. If you have the room to store it, you should consider it. It may not be worth a whole lot, but you might be doing a service for the hobby by saving it from extinction. I'd love to hear that some kid bought it instead of buying some POS Toyota or Honda.

You really shouldn't sell these Mopars short. There were some rust problems that were supposedly fixed by 78. My daily driver was a 79 Volare wagon. It was slant six automatic but the dang thing got 30 mpg on the highway.
I only stopped driving it because the frame bent in a wreck (not my fault). I would love to find another wagon to replace it. I wouldn't give it a second thought, if you can use a second car, go for it or, send it my way. (where is it exactly?)

Great cars. Like everything else of the era...Chrysler started buying foreign steel, and got bit in the *** with rust issues. I was working at a Chrysler stamping plant at that time. You could see the difference in the coils of steel. Most parts to restore one are not available...and very pricey when found.
 
I've wanted one of the orange ones since I was a kid, but the reality is these cars were very unpopular because they were riddled with engineering and production problems, which is why there are so few of them that survived the scrap yard. When they broke down they stayed down and got scrapped.

The bad news is the guys I know who have tried to restore these cars all have the same story... they get just so far and then have to quit because they can't get parts. No one repops anything for these cars, and there's so few left around that getting parts is a PITA. The laws of supply and demand would make it seem like selling F body parts would be a good thing to do, but when I've seen really nice examples of these cars come up for sale, top dollar is usually less than $10k, so no one wants to spend hundreds of dollars on parts unless they REALLY have to have one of these and there aren't many of these folks around.

The seats in my 74 Roadrunner came from a failed 76 Aspen project, and I've had the seat covers and biscuits on ebay for a while now. There have been a lot of views, but no one is bidding even though I've kept lowering and lowering the price. I suspect that no matter how scarce they are, until they get down to $20 or so they aren't going to sell, and at that point it's not worth my time and effort to box them and take them to the post office so I'll likely just throw them out.

Since it's free, I would take it if the interior, especially the seat covers, which are in high demand because no one makes these, is in primo shape and if it has the spoilers, which are also in demand and sell for good money. The rest of it would be scrap.
 
Seems sad to hear people say scrap it. That makes just one more classic car off the planet. If it's a good car, sell it if you don't want it. I think they look good with the right wheels/ tires. If it's a rusty piece of junk, then part it out, and make some money. The front suspension works awesome in mid 50's Ford trucks.

No, it takes one more scrap car that's taking up space and slowly withering into an eyesore out of the landscape and putting it back to some useful purpose. Keeping it makes no sense as it's about impossible to restore it, so it'll just sit around and rust some more until the new owner tries to foist it onto somebody else.
 
Well I Bought a car and he threw the volare in for free, I guess I just wanted to know if I should go back for it or not lol.
