I have a '68 Satellite that has been upgraded from points to electronic. I remember putting a new regulator in years ago, when it was still on points..Hasn't given me trouble but I'm seeing that you shouldn't use the points regulator with the electronic ignition? What would be the recommended VR that will use the same wiring? (I've seen that later style with the one big plug but that won't work with my harness) I'm using factory harness modified for mopar chrome ECU, a firecore distributor and MSD coil with their provided ballast resistor and a stock replacement alternator....thanks!

Wells VR706(?) is what I've had for the last year & original wiring used.

Both my car, and a 65 Imperial I converted this year have the same distributor and MSD electronic coil as you. Purchase the three wire plug pigtail for the VR and wire it to your existing OE wiring. That's it. Color-coded diagrams can be found online in Google pics.

Thanks guys.. well I just looked up the part number that oldbee posted and... Whaddya know that is looks exactly like the unit that I have on my car now. I guess when I replaced it 15 years ago O'Kragen's must have given me that newer style...

I'd give the counterman a big kiss, he was obviously looking out for you.

See the link in post #5 and make sure it's wired correctly.

Well my vr used the original wires and works great; assuming you were using original harness & original mechanical vr. Breathe easy it'll work(14v at cold fast idle&middle 13+ at hot idle). I checked it after install & haven't worried about it since.

Put an analog volt meter on your system and if voltage is not bouncing around you are good
