Hope everyone in California is okay.
Never been through an earthquake, I live pretty far from the coast so we are probably safe here but they keep saying the “big one” is coming for the Pacific Northwest. Who knows though, could be tomorrow or 10,000 years from now. Although it kicks out a 9.0 every few hundred years or so. Last one was in 1700 I believe. The one in Alaska in 64 was a big one...

yep my stepfather was there
Anchorage at Fort Richardson US Army base
during that era, he was stationed there from 63-65
before he married my mother
said; 'it was a real wild ride'
he didn't talk much about it really
Alaska wasn't really populated in them days
even far less than today
(Anchorage now is 10 times what it was in 1964)
still devastating to have all your **** swallowed up
by earth shaken to ****
still signs of it there today
(the building are gone but there's a Burum left where it just crumbled)
'he was sort of use to earthquakes'
he said; 'he was out with National Gaurd crews helping the citizen,
dig out' etc.
but 8.? (IIRC it was org. rated at 8.4)
I have a commemorative coin from it, from when I lived there
in the mid 80's
that is 20+ - 40+ (?) times worse than what we just experienced, 5.99
Anchorage pretty much was divide by C street & 4th st
everything west of that, towards Cook Inlet
was pretty-much gone, shook to **** or sunk
