Hi Gents,

I've been chasing a vendor that sells window weatherstrip kits for '71-'72 Road Runners/Satellites, and it seems there are only a few....and they sell the same kit.

Mr Moparts, who sell Restoration Specialties and Supplies own brand....Top Catwhiskers kits.

The kits are advertised as either '71-'72 early, or '71-'72 late. Both are ten piece kits. Does anyone know what the differences are, and when the early/late transition occurs? Link here: http://www.mrmoparts.net/weatherstripping-seals/?sort=featured&page=7

I could ask the vendors directly (and I will if no-one knows), but I thought I'd post a thread and spread the love. I can't be the first guy who's chased/bought one of these kits!

Cheers,

Mr G.

Not sure what the difference is, but I did a bit of digging and it seems I've found the date of the change:

The door outer weatherstrip had a production change in early January 1972. My car is a November '71 model, which of course means I'm up for the more expensive early strips. Sheesh.

I'll email MrMoparts to confirm and post their response up here.

I have a brand new set (came with my charger ) does this year deal go for chargers too? I would think so but now your going to make me go out and look at the seals and check to make shure there correct .

IMG_0681 (Large).jpgThe difference is in the inner quarter window pieces.
The early cars use longer ones and the later cars use the shorter ones.
My 72 with an SPD of 424 used the 10" ones.

^^^Thanks Ron :).

I can't see a change in the catalog for the rear quarter window strips, but perhaps I'm misreading it.

Michael from Mr Moparts just replied. He agrees I'll need the early version strips, but didn't elaborate on the differences between the kits.
