Weight Trimming

Putting the 64 Polara on a diet for this season.....glass hood, trunk, front and rear bumper....

Trying one other thing that I would like some opinions on....gunna mount a 1 gallon fuel cell on right side ahead of rad support and plumb it back to a T valve on the fender so I can select main tank or fuel cell....this should let me drain the main tank and run off the fuel cell at the strip and also not have to blend a large amount of fuel for the strip....

I've been running with a full main tank but, since installing Caltracs, have been dead-hooking so I think I should be OK...

Any of you tried this or see issues???

sounds like it will work just fine to me, there's allot of plumbing if you go with both tanks, maybe even needing 2 pumps depending on how it's routed or if your using an electric pump or not... I would try to keep the forward tank & fuel as cool as possible too... good luck

Double your pleasure. Wouldn't it make more sense to be on the left side if you're going in front of the rad since the car wants to torque to the right and lift that front left?

as far as safety,make sure to run that tank dry when on the street.no need to die in a fire if you get into a front end misshap.what about a removable tank in the trunk.i have seen that done before.

Personally, I would never, ever consider putting a fuel tank under the hood...Maybe I'm missing something, but what are the advantages of doing that?...Even at the track there are other cars, guard rails and cement walls to run into...

Couldn't you just go to a fuel cell instead of the stock tank ? I mean I believe they make 12 or 15 gallon fuel cells ? Or just run a couple gallons in the stock tank when you get to the track ? Ron

They use stand alone tanks all the time with Nitrous. Its no big deal and real easy to do.. like anything it just takes money

Thats what we do.. no more than half tank depending on many runs you are going to make

You run a 1 gallon fuel tank at the front of the car so you don't push the fuel to the front of the car and have to overcome the g's of acceleration.

Every pound taken off the car is less hp to make it run.

I have been running the car with a full tank...which is good for traction but weight I don't need....I've thought about running a few gallons, but, how much to keep the pickup wet, and where is that few gallons gunna go as soon as I hit it........right to the back of the tank away from the pickup

Putting tank on right side of the car because main fuel line comes up that side and I'm running a mechanical pump which is on right side of the engine...
