What are these Holes in tranny

The first one on a727 is a hold down bolthole for the fill tube. The 2nd one? Is this a 727 or a 904? Pat

Yes sorry it is a 727 I had a whole description but when I edited I guess it all got deleted. I don't see any theads in the hole on the tail shaft so I couldn't figure out what it would be for unless it's a vent? But I can see gears and stuff inside.

The trans. I just looked at again, came out of a 1967 c body. It's the early 19 spline trans. Maybe the later trucks had a vent up top? Just a guess. Hopefully someone else will know. Pat

Is this cable shifted? If you can see the gears that was a vent and probably had a small metal tube pressed into it.
