So something has happened inside my seat and I need to figure out sooner than later before it rips a hole through my fabric. What do yall think? I followed the rod all the way to the back of the seat but I can't quite figure it out without removing the seat and pulling the fabric off. I currently have a 2.5lb mallet sitting on a piece of cardboard to keep the pointy end from trying to press through the material. Any help is always appreciated! thanks.

If its not a spring poking up all the way through the foam, then its a listing wire, and there is one that runs right along where the buttons are located on these seats, and that may be the one poking out.

Hi, cut the old hog rings off and peel the cover back while compressing the foam so you can see what exactly is trying to poke though. And kill it. Classic industries sells hog ring plyers with rings or you should be able to fin them at your local hardware store. Also would suggest going to legendary interiors website. They have videos on recovering seats so you can see what's going on inside. Good luck.

Yep, looks like you boinked a spring, what others have said. Good Luck

No way around it...you have to look inside. I like mopower871's idea about getting a few hog rings and taking a peek.

Thanks guys! Based on the info, it seems like it is a listing wire. Following the rod, it goes to one of the buttons, continues to the others and curves to the middle of the back of the seat cushion. I have to order another batch of parts from classic ind anyways (gotta swap my door springs), might as well get the hog ring pliers and rings so i can do this right. My seat material is in excellent condition, minus the buttons, and id hate to experience a puncture over something as (potentially) simple as this. I'll update when she's all apart! Thanks.

I would say listing wire as well. The listing wires run through two channels on the underside of the seat cover and above the foam, whereas the springs are under the foam. Pretty tough for one of them to push through the biscuit.
