Parents purchased a 1971 Road Runner new in 1971 with 383 and air grabber hood. (sold it a couple of years later, too bad). I would like to know what color the engine call outs were over the front side marker lights? The Road Runner I am talking about was Bahama Yellow and I know the decals used some kind of trick reflective treatment on them, but I can't remember what color the "383" numbers actually were. Thank you.

i've seen white and black on the same light color (gy3)
i'm thinkin it might match up to the interior color or something to that effect.

somewhere in my stuff i have a recommended stripe color chart for 1969 cars
maybe there is one floating around for the 71s?

Aren't these black ones place way too low?

I think I remember now, they might have been black, but with a reflective outline. Is that correct? Probably not for sale anywhere in that original configuration. Does anyone have a "survivor" that can answer the question definitively?

i have a set of nos original white decals that have a outline and they are reflective

Could you please post a foto sometime? I don't really remember exactly which part of the characters were reflective. Oh, you beat me to it, fotos already there, but still hard to see. Is it the outline of the number that reflects or the entire number? Probably just the white part in the foto, right?

you can't tell thru the packaging
and its sealed up to where i really don't want to open it..

If you're not afraid of the dark, could you just hide yourself in the closet with a flashlight and tell me what you see when you light up the "383"? Just an idea I had. I actually need "305" but I was thinking about purchasing "340" and switching the numbers around to read something close like "304".

i tried that and its pretty hard to tell
the packaging has yellowed and is cloudy
if you gave me the guess
it looks like its all the same..reflective

Thanks everyone, according to the chart on the scan provided by 72RoadrunnerGTX the Bahama Yellow L5 exterior color should use black call out fender decals.

Thanks, placed an order at "Performance Car: foe black reflective and specified "305" to correspond with the de-stroked 340 I am planning, hope they can change the numbers for me like is mentioned on their website.

so... why would you de-stroke a motor? I'm confused as to why anybody would do that.
