I am installing a different dash in my 71 Superbee. Everything is going swimmingly until I find this light hole in the center of the dash. I had put a light in it because it seemed right, but it shines directly in my face and doesn't appear to accomplish anything.

What is this hole for?? It isn't high beams, left or right signal.

What year and model dash is it?
Someone with that should be able to tell you.

Its a 71 Superbee. Rally dash, although my standard dash (no tach) that I am replacing has the same hole. ALl the lights werew burned out in that dash so I never noticed it.

Correct me if I am wrong

Pretty sure the parking brake sensor switch ties into that same bulb

Metering block / Parking brake = Brake Warning Light

As mentioned, brake waring light goes there. Single bulb, two wires, black with a tracer and a dark blue with a tracer. Standard cluster would have the same bulb config. Should have a red lens with "Brake" labeling.
Yes, parking brake switch and differential switch at the combination valve are wired to that bulb.

Ah, thanks for the pic. I have that light socket, wasn't sure where it should go. The wiring diagrams aren't very clear on that.
Just need to find a red lens.

What's it warning me about? I thought the only safety device on this car was the wipers...

You should get a red lense with BRAKES word on that hole. It will turn on when emergency brake is applied or if you get a pressure failure on brakes system while ridding

Excellent, thanks for this info.

I just found a set for the E-body dash, but it doesn't look like it will fit.

Haven't found anything for the B body rally dash. Yet.
Not sure on the E body lenses set.

And no, you won't find anything for 71/74 clusters. So don't waste your time.

Except a donor... sometimes cracked bezels could be found on the cheap around.

Excellent, thanks for this info.

Finally remembered to look and it's already been posted: brake light. Mine has a short and stays on sometimes.
Try Richard O'Shields. B&E used to have that stuff.

Are you sure about a "short"? Maybe you have a brakes fail... don't you think?
