True! However, since I was going to use the story on LinkedIn, and I don't want people to miss my message because they are looking for falsehoods.
I get a job, and and then I can buy more parts!

Man I spent half of today on webinars to better use LinkedIn and AI to get a job, interesting but at the same time BLEH

whatever I say it's worth,and I expect a tip if you want to talk to me at the front of the lineup next time!
I once did a job that took me approximately 1 min. and only charged $500! When you've got an entire movie crew on site ready for a shot and a kinked garden hose is holding everything up well you just tell them you can fix it and give a price,not how your going to fix it and no i didn't put the kink in it!

I rented one of the cars to a small movie production and a prop broke and luckily the shooting location was some kind of shop, so in a rush I volunteered to fix it. But considering their budget and that it was 15 mins work I didn’t charge extra.

Twice in my life I’ve had to go behind expensive electricians to fix/diagnose their screw ups for little or no money, the last time was actually for family. A new circuit was added for a yard light, I looked at the work and got some chalk…ok no chalk, I pulled the panel and traced wires and saw the new circuit wasn’t hooked up. I refused to connect it tho since who knows what he did on the other end and to check that required a ladder I didn’t have. Told them tell the electrician the following things and have him come back since he is licensed and would be liable if something pops. My phrasing may have been saltier than that.

I miss... & some of the people

This is the main reason why I will prob never retire. My shop is my brothers, nephews, cousins and my 83 y/o Mom (we make her do most of the welding). Everybody else will grow into cousins or will move on.
Bottom line for me is I charge fair, they pay fair or we don't do business.
