I am soon going to be painting my newly rebuilt 67 383. I know that fuel pump and oil pump are engine color, but what about the exhaust manifolds? Mine were painted some silver color when I purchased the car. But I am now wondering if they would have been painted with the block from factory?

Also, was the oil filter painted at the same time too?

I would say yes on the manifolds. I know you dont like to watch, but GYC can learn you a thing or 2 from time to time. Dont paint the oil filter. Thats about the trashiest thing i can think to do

Well the filter will be painted anyway, but I have to change that really soon after first fire up anyway. Then it will be unpainted.

I have the 1st 2 seasons of GYC, I might watch them back to see what they have done.

I cant remember if he showed it in the first 2 seasons, but definitely in the last 2 he painted the engines complete. And then darren bitched because it all burned off and smoked out the shop on the initial start up.

No paint on aluminum parts. Do not paint the transmission mounting surface or you will have starter grounding problems. Motor mount brackets are black.
