Here's a question that I hope isn't too dumb. Im sanding and prepping my engine bay for primer, and am having a heck of a time with the firewall. The resin/glue stuff in the voltage regulator has leaked out and left a pretty good mess on the firewall. Ive tried scraping, sanding, and even a rust stripper wheel on a drill to no avail. It just seems to spread it. Think maybe paint stripper? If anyone has dealt with this and knows any tricks Im all ears. Thanks in advance.

Thanks I wound up using paint stripper and then finished it off with acetone. That stuff was bound and determined to live there until the end of time...almost.

Did you try the acetone first?

I tried the acetone first and it softened it but still stayed gooey. That resin was determined. The paint stripper came next then scraping and leftovers were cleaned with acetone. All nice and shiny metal now. A few more dimples to fix then ready for primer. Thanks again everybody.
