Hello experts....wanting to buy a new set of black steelies for 69 A12 Superbee. As you know factory wheels where 15x6 and never hook up. Wanting to know the widest rim ya'll have used in rear with factory setup along with tire size. Thanks and take care, B.C..

I'm getting some 15x10 that work on factory, I've ran 295 50 15s for a long time never had issues. My brother played with the offset on ralleys and got 305s to tuck in his 73 charger.

9.5", 10" or even 11" wheels with 5" to 5.5" backspacing & the right tire combo & rim diameters... 12.5"-13" total section width 29"-30" diameter can fit, with the correct wheel & back-spacing... I had 10" w/315R/15 drag radials &/or 29.5"x12" Hoosiers, with a 5.5" back-spacing on my last 68 RR no rubbing issues, the inner fender tappers much narrower, towards the top, so the lower the car goes the less tire will fit... I have 9.5" Halbrands w/5" back-spacing & BFG TA's P295/50/15's on my current 68 RR HT, it's tight to the outside of the inner wheel well, but doesn't touch/rub... Percy {spelling?} Makes a Tire Fitment tool, for like $69 at Summit Racing, no guessing that way, cheap insurance, to know for absolutely sure, what will & won't fit your specific car, suspension, tire, wheel diameter & stance etc...

Back spacing Use 5" minimum with 10" wide wheel

Thanks for the info guys. I'm leaning towards 15x10's w/4.5-5"offset.

5" minimum B.S. with a 10" wide wheel, 4.5" depending on tire could have rubbing issues...

Hey mate,
I am no expert, but I have gone through what you are thinking about. If you are looking for the absolute widest possible, the only way to be sure is to measure on your car. What doesn't scrape on another 69 Bee doesn't mean it won't scrape on yours due to sloppy manufacturing tolerances on these cars.

From what I have read, a 8" wheel with 4.5" BS is pretty safe, but whether a 10" will fit is not always a certainty.

I'd want to be certain wheels/tyres will fit before shelling out my coin....

He has a great point, don't spend the money until you know for sure, I would suggest you by the Percy fitments tool you will be money a head in the long run... a 10" rim w/4.5" BS will more than likely have tire rubbing issues, a 9" rim w/4.5" BS is better but will limit the tire choices probably, a 5" BS is marginal with a 10" rim {5.25" or 5.5" BS is better in my experiances}... I still say buy the $69 fitments tool, "be absolutely sure" what tire/wheel combo will work with your "exact tire/wheel/brake/suspension" combo, it's money well spent... there are issues with clearance on the inside at the leaf springs too at the girth of the tire, so make sure to check before you buy.... You can take measurements by using a plumb bob also. take the wheels off while car is jacked up & take a 2' framing square off the rear drum/disc rim matting face & measure to the string/plumb bob hanging down at different points in the wheel well & at the leafs etc., will work also...

Wheel Size 4 door

I have a 4 door 68 Coronet 440, I know the rear fender is a little lower than the two door, I am going to try to put a 8" on the rear. Will it fit??
