What (roughly) is the widest wheel I can fit on my 66 charger front and rear?

I was thinking about putting 18's on it because i want to put a big enough wheel to fill the wheel wells.

I'm just not sure if anyone out there has done this or knows what a good size rim for the car is. I'm putting on disc brakes so need to go bigger anyways. Thanks in advance

image.jpg18x9.5 front with 285/35/18's and 5" of back spacing or -6mm of offset with willwood front disc brakes. On the rear you can run an 11" wide rim 18 diameter with -12mm offset or 5.5" of backspacing.

On my car I have Wilwood brakes front and rear. The rims are Cragar SS 18's with -12 mm of offset or -4.75" of backspacing on a 9.5" wide rim. On the front I need and have room for another 1/4 to 1/2" of backspacing. On the rear it just needs a wider rim.

If you run a disco brake kit that does not push the mounting location out you can run the -12mm of offset or 4.75" of backspacing.

very nice, just what I needed to know. Some guy at a rim shop said I could only go 18x9 with -12mm offset, using a spacer or something to correct it. was planning on getting summits drilled and slotted 4 wheel conversion kit. I guess we'll find out. lol

I would double check your back spacing with what ever disks you run. It is critical to be able to run that size of tire. My car is not on the road but I did drop to 265/35/18's to have alteast a 1/2 of clerance to the fender lip. I would have to measure to see what I had to the frame but it was a enough that I would change the offset by 6mm to get it closer to the frame rail if I was ordering rims again.

I want to mention that I have a complete Hotchkis suspension with Firm Feel 1.06 torsion bars. The Hotchkis A arms may affect the clerance also.

also what size tire you running in the rear, i seen you said you went to a 265/35r18 in the front. Just wondering. Thinking about the same set up. Just having trouble finding the rims I like.

The rear brakes are not on yet so neither are the tires. The bearings where pressed on the axles today but I didn't get off of work early enough to pick them up from the shop. I am running 285/35/18's in the rear on the 9.5 wide rim. I REALLY wish Cragar could have made an 11" wide rim on the back. I believe I could run a 305 or maybe a 315.
