When running a return loop fuel system with a stock tank...

Just an idea doublekrossd- go to an RV dealer/shop and talk to one of the techs. I spent 15 yrs adding generators to school bus size bookmobiles, police command posts, etc. There are available pickup tubes with a gasket&seal surface that only needs about a 3/4"-1" hole cut and everything is done on the outside of tank. Usually available with 1/4"-3/8" hose connections, maybe others available now. Sorry can't remember where we used to get them.

Just looked at yogisinc.com they have a bunch of stuff. I also used to drill &tap a tank for pipe thread and just add a 90deg. fitting & add a large fender washer at top of pipe thread to spread the load around(not too many threads in a metal tank when done)a little devcon under washer to anchor everything.

I'm looking into doing the same right now but looking at this setup instead. I like the idea of it being all bundled up neatly plus being in the tank should mean it will run cooler and quieter. My understanding on plumbing for the external pump is 10AN from tank to pump, 8AN from pump to regulator, 6AN from regulator to carb then an 8AN return line. For this in tank setup it would likely be just all 8AN hoses.

Hell yeah, I'm liking that! I'm actually thinking of now going with a FiTech system for better street manners and that looks a lot like a kit they are coming out with later this month.

I just grab a bulkhead fitting and drill it in to the sending unit but and also sells a sending unit with a 3/8 return for $50 or so...

I have done it both ways, bulkhead fitting is about $12, I also did an fitech in a nova that was a quickie favor job, and I popped a hole in the tank, fit in a grommet with some rtv and that car has been back and forth from ohio to ri with no issues
