which carb.?

Early units and truck models with the least amount of vacuum ports! Or the pre Chrysler carbs (Race and QJ replacement available in an actual 850 or 1,000 cfm) and the over the counter replacements with electric chokes. (Small primary 800 cfm only)

didn't I say siphoned in an earlier post??? Like post 16 ? :)

Siphon action works on the gravity principle, once started then it works on the difference in HEIGHT of the two liquids. I was referring to DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE between the outside pressure (absolute pressure...or high pressure) and the venturii pressure or manifold vacuum (or low pressure), both are a function of flow of air, and the differential pressure varies with flow.

I'm also a fan of the thermoquad. The earlier ones.
Thermoquad carbs were great in principle but difficult to tune because of the lack of metering components. GM's Quadrajet's were excellent as well based on the same principles (small primaries = high mixture velocities and good throttle response) but were probably the least understood. Most guys just replaced them with a Holley. Again a real availablity of tuning components...jets & primary and secondary metering rods...was an issue.
