Hello folks,
I'm starting to look at converters for my car so I can possibly begin pulling the old motor out this coming week and get ready to put the beast in. Here some info. The car is a 69' Satellite. I'm planning on it being more street than strip (weekend cruise through town or to car shows).
Engine:
440 stroked to 498
10.5 comp
comp extreme energy hyrdaulic 294' 306' 250' 256' 519' 524' 110 degree
alum heads
Indy single plane
Quick fuel 880cfm
.
Trans is built 727, with a reverse manual VB
More than likely I'm going to run 4.10 out the back. (
Now I talked to the guys at TCI and they suggested the 3400-3600 stall street fighter.
I was also looking into Turbo action but haven't heard back from them. I'm just wondering what converter y'all recommend?

I'd get something in the 3-3.5K range. I'd also look at PTC.

Yeah that seems to the sweet spot for this cam. I filled out PTC's form the other day on their website still waiting on a call back. Any idea what their custom converters run?

I've got a 3500 stall in my 494 stroker which I plan to use mostly as you do with yours. I feel like it's a bit too much. Wish I had gone lower. It feels too lazy
for street use and obviously with all the start and stops of city use.

I put a 10" 3400 stall in my car based on their data form. Converter works great and I am very happy with it, reasonable prices too.

For what your plans are for the car 3k should be enough. Don't get me wrong a little more stall would be better but if you don't plan on too many trips down the track why spin it up any higher. I'm actually running a 4200 stall on the street but I wanted a car I could enjoy at the track and still drive it there. With a manual v/b it's really fun on the street too!

Yeah I have been told by comp cam that it needs to be 3200+ for best performance.

Call them. They make great stuff, and I believe my last custom one was about 800. I've used them in everything from the hemi wagon to the old Carlton pro-stocker. I think I've purchased 4-5 of them.
