I'd run the top one-I've had both and lift off hoods are a pain in the ***! Unless it's a real A12 car I will never have one again.

Well here's my vote lol you don't have to have a real A12 to still have fun with a functional scoop ;) (mines use's the oem hinges with softer springs. Of course I have my OEM hood on hand if I ever change things up. Sure is fun and get's a lot more attention. There is just something about looking over that scoop on the street.

Gotta go with the lift off hood. Lift off being the operative words. No hinges here. Sorry bigman.
I know it can be a pain in some ways, but it makes it easier in some ways too.
but you sure are right about looking out over that scoop when driving.

I had one on my '68 for years- it's a pain taking it off/putting it on by yourself-trying not to scratch the fenders, finding a place to set the hood...but they are cool to look at!

Looks like your A12 hood is a hinge deal ?
Eather way thats my vote !

Had the lift off hood and would never go to it again unless it worked with the springs as stated by another post. It's a PITA...especially for storing at a cruise/show and on windy days. My 2 cents

I would stick with the original one not a fan of incorrect mopars keep them original unless it is a clone to begin with !!

I debated that when I put the Six Pack on my GTX. I love those lift offs. But I decided to keep my stock hood and have custom call outs made.

hate to burst your bubble but 90% of the mopars around these days are "incorrect". I am a big fan of build the car how YOU want to , and the purist can cry all they want behind their keyboards LOL

I'm not crying just saying if inncorect mopars is your thing that's fine I know most guys don't have the resources to bring them back to original! And that is why so many guys have no idea what is correct and not on our beloved cars ! So you can do whatever you want but when someone argues with people like my dad who has an A12 RR all original owned since 1976 that certain things aren't real or that is was not stock its all because of guys like you !

first off, I was generalizing about purist crying behind their keyboards and not pointing fingers at you, nor was I calling you specifically a purist. I am a life long mopar owner, probably longer than you have been alive. I seriously doubt that even you have 100% knowledge about what is actually 100% correct and what isn't. I have taken 99% correct cars and made them mine , just the way I like them to be. if it wasn't for "people like me" , there would be about 30 or 40 less mopars on the road. I save them, I build them , I don't part them out or crush them. its people like you that have the attitudes at car shows and look down at every car on the road that isn't the "real deal", even though you probably don't really even know yourself.

people take this hobby way too FKN seriously instead of just enjoying them for what they are. I used to play the numbers matching BS , and it sucked the fun right out of actually driving and enjoying the cars. now I just do what I want with them.

Like I said if that's your thing that's fine ! Just make sure you state that when someone asks you if it original or not ! And yes I maybe in my 30's but when you deal in parts and Mopars your whole life and my dad for over 40 years we do know what is correct just have to go to the shop and look because all our car's are 100% origanal and like I said not everyone has this luxury so we can agree to disagree !

All I can say to this argument is I am cuaght in the middle, my back story starts when I wanted to build a 440. I did my research and knew I wanted to put it in a 68-69 car so I made sure the block was at least period correct. My car when purchased had incorrect parts on it or missing all together, Heck the 383 in it was not correct was it a warranty block? maybe, maybe a junk yard block don't know. If it was a warranty block does that make it correct or incorrect? According to your analysis it would not be correct anymore right? So I am starting out incorrect from the start with no way to ever be correct again. My car was in an accident some time, left rear 1/4 was replaced with a "factory" piece( I know this from the warehouse sticker I found still attached from the 80's) but the shop that did the work did a horrible job on it is it a correct car still? They replaced the rear bumper with a 68 lol I fixed that and put a 69 and the reverse lights on it is it correct still?

I am trying my best to gather and replace almost all original parts on my car but there is no way in hell it will ever be 100% correct again I have faced that and will build MY car. I will try very hard to make sure at the very least it has original or reproduction parts that did come on the car Just look at my photobucket pages and all the restoration I am doing to things like the OEM speaker and heater / AC stuff.

But I know going in no matter how hard I try to make it as close to stock OEM the purist will still thumb there noses at me, they already do at car shows so I am with super77se on this one. Build it how you want it and just be proud you are putting a great *** mopar back on the road and keeping it there! Too many chevys out there now, and seeing a mopar on the road now is like seeing real history modded or not.

Oh, one last thing, with the amount of work we put into these cars to hear some one with an unmolested car come in here and talk smack is real depressing. We work our asses off trying to build our cars with the budgets we have and the time frames and family etc etc. so just keep that in mind next time you want to tell I guy his stuff isn't correct, thanks,

Had a hinged 6 pack hood on my 71 340 Cuda for awhile and I drove it to work every day up until the mid 90's. Got lots of looks for sure and I enjoyed it until it rained. I made plug for it just for rainy days....and I carried quarters with me whenever I went to the parking lot car shows for the ones that would start the 'that's not original' crap. I'd just reach into my pocket and flip one to whoever was talking the sheeet. :D

I have to apologize to Big and Super 7 ! After thinking all day about this I have to say Thank you thanks for keeping these cars alive ! I know that it is very hard to find numbers matching cars these days! When working in the shop today with dad I threw this discussion at him [ and this man is a true Mope head]! After a good discussion it was agreed that no matter what correct incorrect or other wise these cars need to be seen ! Dad put it this way when is the last time you saw a cool mopar just out on a cruise [and not ours] ? I say ummmmm? And he says yea right we don't see them much so don't be picky about being correct or not as long as it looks like a mopar ! I have to agree if you want to take the time and spend the money on our beloved cars then by all means make it what you want just show it proud and make it loud !!
