Bought a 72 SSP in pieces, tonight trying to install the motor (original 318 and original 904) but only one through bolt for motor mounts (on drivers side) is lining up. The passenger side needs to come more to the center about an inch. Is it possible I have the motor mount brackets switched? The way I have them now is: the bracket on the driver's side (left) only has 3 bolts to the cylinder block and the passenger side (right) has 4 bolts to the block. Is that right or should they be the other way around. Thank you!

Yes you have the engine brackets backwards. Three bolts passenger and four bolts drivers. K-member to mount bolts threw front on passenger side and back on drivers side.

OK, I will switch them and see what happens. But I would have sworn with three bolts on the driver's side the through bolt was coming from the rear or back as you described it. I'm not with the car right now so I am only 90% sure about that.

Now that's it is daylight and I can see what I am doing, I notice the wear pattern on the K member brackets for the motor mounts match up to the way I already have them installed. Now I guess I will just have to jiiggle the motor around until the holes line up. Chrysler sure makes this subject confusing, don't they? After about an hour of prying, jiggling, raising and lowering, and tapping everything finally lined up.
