I have a coronet 383 engine and a 727 tranny. I want to swop out the tranny for an automatic. I want to get newer model. Which kind should I get. Thx

The B series engine will accept only the B or RB transmission, which is the 727. Any other trans you wish to use will require an adapter to fit to the engine and some modification to the tunnel, floor, torsion bar crossmember to fit, whether it be the Mopar overdrive or the GM overdrive. The 727 is a good stout trans and bolts right into your car, I would consider building it for use in your car unlessyou have your heart set on the overdrive. One other overdrive solution is a Gear Vendors unit which bolts to the the 727 in lieu of the tailhousing.

Two months ago I had my 727 rebuilt with a kit from A&A transmission and a shift kit from Transgo. once I got it back from the shop, I installed a Gear Vendors and am very happy with the results.
