So I traded my C8 Corvette for a widebody Challenger Hellcat (plus I got some cash difference). It was kind of like coming home. I was never really a Corvette guy. It was a great car. Just not me (and the seats KILLED my back - the lowers were fantastic but the uppers killed me). So I'm not sad it's gone.
The Hellcat is wicked fast. On a deserted road with no houses on it I hit 299!!! That's kilometers per hour. Still something in the tank, even at that speed, but I was running out of road. In mph that's around 186. My old best top speed was nearly 30 years ago in in Dodge Stealth RT twin turbo at 255 kph (that's around 158 mph).
I am still searching for the perfect B body. While I had my heart set on a '68 Charger I have to acknowledge that at today's prices that's not going to happen for me. So I plan to widen the search to include any '68 - '70 B body that is DONE. Still gotta have a manual transmission though. In the meantime, it won't be hard to live with the Hellcat. Wicked fast, but runs and drives like any other car when you're not hard on the throttle.
I was thinking of taking the Corvette to the Silver State Car Classic but I would have been crippled by the time I drove it to Nevada. The Challenger will be a much better choice. I doubt that 2021 will work out for me because of the pandemic etc (border is still closed), but I am thinking hard about doing it in 2022.
