Installing a new hood insulation pad for '72 SSP is becoming a problem, don't know if it ever had a factory installed one. Didn't want the "plastic" clips (listed for '72 models) that hold it on, so I ordered the metal 1971 clips. I assumed the holes punched for the clips for '71 and '72 would have been the same diameter, but maybe I was wrong. Seems the '71 clips won't fit in the hood holes of my '72. Tried over and over to push them on by hand, then even banging a claw hammer didn't work, they just fly off in every direction. Do I need to go back to the plastic clips? Do I need to drill the holes oversize, or do I just need a bigger hammer? Thank you.
