Hello everyone just starting to put the x back together got a seal kit for the wiper pivots this kit came with grease fittings is did anyone bother to do this to their wiper pivots thanks

I did, grease is a great seal not to mention being able to lube them is nice. Just make sure you aim them where you can get to them.

Thanks did you use the ones supplied you press or hammer in or did you tap and use the thread stlye thanks again

I put grease nipples in my pivots when I rebuilt them. I just drilled and tapped threads for them, and yes make sure you can get to them once they are installed. To be honest I probably will never need to re-grease them but whoever owns the car in 20 years might appreciate them.

Press in grease fittings are pretty much useless, especially in die cast pot metal. Drill and tap and use screw in fittings.

I didn't buy a kit like you so I drilled and tapped mine, 1/4 28 if I remember correctly.

I installed zerks in my wiper posts because they were very dry and I didn't know how else to get grease in. For me, it was a one time thing as I don't have any idea how to get back up in there without pulling the dash. I used a synthetic grease that should last as long as the rest of the car. I had a supply of zerks from old scrapped tie rod ends. I just drilled a hole and used the threads on the zerk to tap their own threads. Here is a pic

Use this grease.
It's water proof. Auto zone.
As an added bonus synthetic grease is high temp, EP and compatible with other greases.
So you only have to stock one grease for everything.

Thanks for all the info installed them today detailed all the parts greased and installed the wiper linkage dash was in place no cluster still was a pain

I skipped the zerks screw it I would worry more about water leaking in besides only if I got caught in a storm while out would they be used and some wd40 specialist grease sprayed on works

I skip the zerks when I do them.

Just did my wiper pivot seals yesterday on my personal car
