I am looking for housing or a complete assembly. Need 3.55 sure grip but will consider anything to get the housing.

I've got two E body housings I can't get rid of.

I thought sure they'd sell, but no one is even interested at $125, including the backing plates.

I guess they are a dime a dozen.

Hell, I've seen just the backing plates go for $75.

FWIW they are about an inch different than a 71-74 B body housing, and should work.

I've also got a 741 case 2.76 gear for $125 and a 489 case with the same gear for $175.

Shipping might be a deal killer for you though. I guess a rough estimate of $100 each part via Greyhound.

Let me confirm that it will work and you ship the housing. only about an hour from Mosers they could build the rest for a small fee of course

I might be paying you a visit YY. I need an 8.75 for my car. Are the mounting points the same or do they need to be relocated?

Somewhere around this site is a great chart that lists all the different rears and the sizes between the different body styles.

If you are leaving in the original 73 rubber isolated mounts you need a 73-74 b body rear end since they have a large hole in the spring perch where older ones only have a small hole and go right on the spring

Car has a 8 1/4 in it currently. could I build it up to handle my 440 or should I look for the 8 3/4?

Thanks for reminding me that I need to reformat the chart sticky so the columns line up.

The E body is slightly narrower by 1 3/8 (11/16 per side) at the drum,
and 1 5/16 narrower (about 5/8 per side) at the perch.

Technically this should be an easier stretch/push fit than a 66-67 B housing in a Duster (which I've done- super easy)

B body 71-74 57 7/8 47 5/16

E body 56 1/2 46

I actually bought one of these housings, just to get the shock plates.

IIRC you can weld a thick washer in the ISO plate, to take up the difference and fit the non-ISO housing.
This would eliminate the ISO-COMP. (help me if I'm wrong here)

If you're that concerned about the +-3/4 stretch, you could always put perches with larger holes on when you relocate them, and keep the ISO-COMP rubber.

I personally would rather have 66-72 handling, and sure do miss that on my 73.

Thanks, I am going to delete the rubber for sure. I found a housing 10 miles from home, and maybe even axles, pig and all.
