Removed and replaced a 318 with a 440. Need torsions bars for the additional weight. I've read a minimum of .96 is needed. Is that correct? Whatcha got out there.

I put .96 torsion bars on my 66 bev with a 440 and it handles well and the ride isn't too harsh. The .96 bars is a good fit between having good handling and a good ride. I bought mine from my local mopar dealer.

The bigger diamater the Torsion Bar, the stiffer (Harder) the ride.
PST and all those aftermarket sites will tell you "you need to replace/upgrade" your Torsion bars but I dont beleive it. They want you to buy their product etc. Expensive too.
Take "Jim Bob the Dancing Bear's" advice and save money. Buy His .88 diam.
Sand them down, clean them up and paint them gloss black (Eastwood's Chassis black) put new clips/seals and your good to go! New Clips/seals are like: $45

Depends on what kind of driving you are going to do. For drag racing, many use the /6 bars. Have you measured what's in the car now and what options does the car have? AC cars are heavier for example. The car may already have .880 bars in it....
