Hi,does anyone here have a good reasonably proced yoke for an 8 3/4" 489 case rear end with 7260 small u joints? I believe it is the 29 spline style. I would also need the original bolts as someone ran the longer non factory bolts and nuts through the "ears" on one side of mine. If you have the straps too that would be great. Trying to cure a vibration that begins when I go past 50 mph.
If hou have one send me a pm and some pics. Thanks.

I'd check your driveshaft balance first before swapping the yoke - vibration at 50+ mph is usually a driveshaft issue rather than just the yoke itself.

The yoke is damaged and needs to be replaced. In my first post I stated that someone broke some pieces off the ears and then ran long bolts through on the side where that happened. It wouldn't be balanced anymore and needs to be replaced for safety reasons regardless.
The driveshaft is factory origonal. Has all its weights on it.

And driveshaft angle is a big one too

So if its a factory rear end and a factory driveshaft, how could the angle be wrong?
The yoke is damaged. Its got some chunks off the ears on one side and the previous owner ran thicker bolts and nuts through that side. Logically, since that needs to be replaced anyway and it,in my opinion would not longer be evenly balanced, that would be the first place to start, correct?

Weak rear original leaf springs can change the angle… That said I would replace the yoke just because of what you mentioned.

Ok,Thanks for the advice. Yeah,Id figure Id start with the part I know has issues and work from there. Thanks for the hint about the leaf springs

I have seen in the past that usually guys use to jack up the rear end with shackles or air shocks, which changes driveshaft angle as well as pulling the driveshaft out of the trans to a new running location, Which does not support the front of the driveshaft proper as the driveshaft is too short with the back of the car raised. I’m not saying yours is this way. I’m saying I have seen it happen and it creates the vibration you’re finding. If your car is at stock height that shouldn’t be the problem but it doesn’t hurt to check

Yep,its original and stock down to the am radio. I appreciate the info though. Those "hi-jacker" air shocks used to be quite popular back in the day.
