I bought these nos champion xj-14y spark plugs at a swap meet today for a $1 a piece I figured for $8 if they work for my car its a great price. Would they work on my 71 rr with a 383 with points?
IMO.....Champion spark plugs are fine for most applications. The origional plugs in your car were J-11Y. They could have been Mopar P34P. Same plug made by Champion. They are too hot for your application. XJ-14Y means they are a Resistor plug, 3/8" reach (thread length), projected core nose and insulator, hot heat range. They could have be R or X ....both are resistor plugs...just different types of resistors. They could be used in a 383, 2 bbl low compression engine, or maybe a GM engine....
