When I changed the gears in my d-60 two months ago it had not leaked any for 20 years, change gears, new seal on the almost new yoke and it has not stopped dripping since. is it because it needs a short break in run? the car has not moved since the work was done. I'm thinking that a trip around the block when I get it started will seat the seal and take care of it. Dave.
 
I'm guessing that your seal got "boogered up" the pinion seal somehow during the gear change. There is not "seal break-in period" that I'm aware of. The good news is they're relatively easy to change & probably not that bad since you've recently had the rear end apart. You just unbolt the huge nut in the center of the rear end yoke, pull the old seal off & use a home-made drift of some type to hammer in the new one, replace the yoke bolt, done.

The issue I've had in the past doing this is when the yoke & that big nut has never been off the rear end. They can rust in place pretty bad. I had one car where I was using a 3/4" breaker bar and a "cheater pipe" and turned so hard that the rear tires (flat on the ground) were spinning & the nut still not budging. You shouldn't have that problem.
