Yankee Express RestoMod Project

Getting/ordering parts, that's good sign...

The lower control arm bushings came yesterday and the rest came today. I also stopped by the steel supply and got inner fender close out panels to smooth them and a piece of angle to mount the seat topper to.

Randy, I still have something to send you if I ever make it to UPS or the post office lmao.

I was thinking that you mentioned something awhile back but chalked it up to TBI as something I only half remembered wrong...lol.

I worked on those two spots at each end of the dash where the pillar covers on the Audi came down to it. I had an inspiration and decided to cut the ends off of my stock dash so that the chrome pillar trim had the original section to meet at the bottom. Plus the lower portion of the dash edge covers the Audi dash mounts nicely. Then I had to fab a plate to fill in the convoluted remaining area. Got one side done so now I can wrap the dash top with leather and it will all blend in seamlessly.

Took a whack at the inner fender close outs today. Started on the passenger side, ( the fender was already off), and made a template out of cardboard of the shock tower to cut out the panel. Made a couple of small trims and it fits well. I will have to buy another though because I bent the top portion a 1/2 inch short.

I like the clean look of the inner fenders...
are you gonna' emboss the words "Yankee Express" in the tops ?
or paint or vinyl stencil ?

Looking good Ghost, I like to look in on your thread to see the progress and ideas you come up with. Keep up the awesome work.

I cut and fit the drivers side close out panel today and also removed the seat topper and cut 3+ inches out of the middle. I needed the wing portions to line up centered behind the bucket seat backs and also have the drivers seat centered on the steering wheel. I wondered if having the seat so close to the center was odd so I went into the other garage and looked at my wife's 2017 Escape. The seats are identical in size and overall shape and are crowded right up against the console with a bigger space between the outer side and the door. So, just like the Express. Feel better about it now. So I mixed up some two part plastic epoxy and cemented a plastic brace, that I cut out of the removed section, up under the seam and let that dry. Now I have to figure out how to join the two smaller half's of the chrome center piece. I drilled and test fitted the 1/8 3"X 2 " angle that will be mounting this in the car. Need to go to Fastenal and get some course thread small nuts and washers. Once I have all of that done I can begin to slice up the big panel to cover the back seat area.

I finally settled on a door design. I shaped and sanded the foam, mounted the pull handle to the door card, put the door card snaps in place, and cut the two holes for the red and white puddle lights on the bottom and rear of the door body. Next is fastening the little bracket that holds the wiring harness inside the door onto the underside of the door card surface. Then cut a hole for the wires to pass through from the inside of the car to the door and put the windows and door latch parts back together. Then covering everything in vinyl and leather.
