Yankee Express RestoMod Project

Moving along nicely Ghost, looks great and I look forward to your posts.

Thanks, I will. Had the pellet stove replaced on a warranty issue yesterday and the guy that owns the Stove Depot store was here checking on his crew. I had the garage door up and he wondered in and drooled all over it. Talked and asked questions for 30 minutes. He said, " It's absolutely amazing that you are doing all of this custom work in a cramped one car garage bay. I know shops that would not attempt this stuff that have ample room and deep pockets." He liked everything. I told him about FBBO because he said he's looking for a driver of that vintage, mid 60's. His name is Chad.

I received the leather portfolio from Elmosoft. They are out of Sweden, not Norway as I thought. While they have the exclusive contract to supply the SRT upgrade leather, the Laguna Sepia and Laguna Black, to Chrysler they also have all of these colors plus they will custom color anything you can dream up as long as you buy 1 entire hide or more. There are several on here that would work for me since I cannot get my hands on the Laguna.

Yes I did say that. Famous last words. It will be a Rootbeer color with white stripes.

In the ongoing saga of the trunk lifts I decided to go back to the original design. I built them better this time though.

looking good

Me too! I got the console installed onto the newly centered up dash today after an hour long struggle. The way it fastens is precise and the angles have to be right or the ashtray wont slide out. I noticed another issue though. If I place the drivers seat centered behind the wheel it's off to the passenger side 4 inches. If I line it up on the seat topper wing behind it then it's off center with the steering wheel. I need to decide whether to cut the center of the seat topper and take out a couple of inches, or live with it. Opinions?

I picked up a set of front disc brake rotors at AutoZone for $88 bucks. I finally came up with a door design that I can live with too. I sunk the handle/speaker section into the top panel of the door where the Coronet 500 plate used to be. Drilled holes for the wood trim piece to mount it too. So now that is all flat. I used the set up from the back Audi doors because the wood piece is longer and the handle section is flat versus the front door with the heavy curve. The tip out storage panel and the CD changer panel is sunk into the bottom of the door and fastened from the inside of the door panel. The speaker will go up towards the rear of the door and the pull handle in the middle some where. The original Coronet inside door handles will not be used. Each of the 4 Audi doors has a complete wiring harness with it including foot lights. power windows and locks/ and speakers. So I will be working on incorporating those things into each door too.

The jury is still out on the storage/CD changer piece at the bottom of the door. It looks out of place to me. Might toss it altogether and leave it flat down there.
